“I had an unforgettable experience at Saas Fee. The Alpin Metro, touted as the world's highest subway, is an impressive feat of engineering. Constructed between 1981 and 1984, this 'subway' is actually a cableway climbing train, much akin to the mountaineering train in Pitztal. However, it is important to note that accessing the mountaintop metro may require some effort. I found myself queuing for the service and then walking quite a distance to the bus. Upon reaching the station, I also had to tackle a considerable number of stairs. Bear in mind that the journey is completed with snowshoes and snowboards, which can be a little tiring. Despite these factors, I visited on a public holiday and the wait time was only between 10 to 30 minutes. I would recommend making a reservation to ensure a smoother experience. Overall, despite the physical exertion, the unique experience offered by the Alpin Metro is worth it.”
